OpenAccess公開取用歷經25年的發酵，逐漸受到研究者與機構的重視，卻也引發正反兩派的激烈辯論，支持者認為OpenAccess是傳播學術的最快途徑，反對者主要則擔憂OpenAccess資料的內容審查制度不如傳統期刊謹慎與權威，認為缺乏誠信且違反倫理的出版方式將對學術傳播造成負面影響與傷害。

2017年6月16日，美國Turnitin公司、國立清華大學圖書館及iGroup將共同舉辦「公開取用的繼往與開來 –開放科學和研究誠信」(OpenAccessAfterwards: OpenScienceandResearchIntegrity)研討會，會中將分別邀請國立清華大學圖書館林館長分享「知識管理與開放創新」；澳洲迪肯大學(DeakinUniversity)的誠信、倫理和生物安全經理DanielBarr博士將分享「澳洲研究誠信經驗對於亞洲國家的借鑑」，他在研究倫理和誠信方面擁有豐富的經驗和專業知識；同時，也邀請日本國家物質材料研究機構(NIMS)材料數據平台中心(MDPC)副總經理MikikoTanifuji女士，以「開放科學X開放創新：從日本材料領域實務談起」為題，分享各國開放科學的發展與日本NIMS開放科學之施行經驗。

本研討會期望透過以上議題的探討，提高學術社群對開放科學的進一步認識，並於符合學術倫理的框架下發揚其應用及避免弊端和爭議。
