TheSOIProcess Theprocessissimple:assess,identify,andtrain.Thecombinationofspecificassessment,specificdiagnosis,andspecifictreatmentprovidesthefoundationforaverycomprehensivesystemofeducationaltherapy. 1.ASSESS SOItestsarethebestwaytogetasnapshotoftheperson’slearningabilitiesandtoseetheirlearningpotential.Somuchinformationisrevealedastohowinformationisprocessed,understood,remembered,evaluated,usedtosolveproblems,andusedcreatively. 2.IDENTIFY Findoutwhatareas–suchascomprehension,evaluation,problem-solving,ormemory–maybecausingdifficulties,andseewhatareasarealreadystrong.Notonlydoesitidentifyareasofconcern,itidentifiesareasofstrengththatthestudentoradulthasnotbeenawareof.Understandingareasofstrengthallowsforafeelingofempowermenttofacechallengesinlearningorinlifewithanincreasedconfidence! 3.TRAIN Personalizedtrainingmaterialsintheformofpaper-penciland/orcomputermodulesareavailablebasedonSOIassessmentresults.Thisisatooltohelpindividualizeeducation.Lowabilitiesaretargetedatthebeginningoftheprogram.Averagetohighabilitiesarefurtherstrengthened.Teachabilitieswhicharelow,maintainthosethataregifted,andfurtherdevelopanythatareaverage.Thefocusisonidentifyingandeliminatingthesourceofthelearningproblemratherthanapalliativetreatmentofthesymptoms. CREATIVITY Creativityisfreedomofexpressioninwriting,drawing,numbers,andmore.Itistheideaof“thinkingoutsidethebox.”Examplesofstrongcreativityabilitiesinclude:havinggoodfluencyandconfidencewithideas,beingabletoproduceideasandputthemtogether,andsolvingproblemsinuniqueways.
