Howtosetupgeneralpostinggroups Ageneralpostinggroupprovidesawaytoidentifyincomestatementaccountsforeachofthesubsidiaryledgers.Forthis,therearetwomaingroupsageneralpostinggroup,whichincludesgeneralbusinesspostinggroups,andgeneralproductpostinggroups.Thefirstidentitywhatcustomersaresoldtoandwhichvendorsorpurchasedfrom,wherethelatteridentifiestheitemsorresourcesbeingsoldandpurchased. AProductPostingGroupisassignedtothingssuchasresources,workcenters,machinecenters,G/Laccounts,itemcharges,anditems.It’sgoodtospecifyhowmanygroupsyouwillneed,whichcanbebrokendownintoretailitems,capacities,resources,andrawmaterialitems.Tocreateaproductpostinggroup: Clickthe“SearchforPage”iconandenter“GeneralProductPostingGroups”sothatitwillbringyoutothatpage.Click“new”andontheCodefieldenteraspecificidentifierforthatproductgroup.ThenclickontheDescriptionfield,youcancreateauniquedescriptionofit.Onthe“Def.VATProductPostingGroup”field,youcanassigntheVATproductgrouptodisplayasthedefaultfortransactionsthatrequirethisproductgroup.Lastly,youcanclickonthecheckboxlabeled“AutoInsertDefault”sothatitwillautomaticallyinserttheDefaultVATProductGroupwhenthegeneralgroupismappedtoaresourceoritem. AGeneralBusinessPostingGroupissetupinasimilarway,butyoushouldevaluatethenumberofgroupsneededforpurchasesmadebyvendorsorsalesmadebycustomersfirst.Youcandividethesegroupsintosectionslikethetypeofbusiness,typesofindustry,andgeographicalarea.Tostartsettingupabusinesspostinggroup: Clickonthe“SearchforPage”iconandtypein“GeneralBusinessPostingGroups”tobetakentothatpage.Oncethere,youcanclickon“New”andonceintheCodefield,enteraspecificidentifierforyourbusinessgroup.Afterward,youcaninsertashortdescriptionbyclickingontheDescriptionfield.Inthefieldlabeled“Def.VATBusinessPostingGroup“,youcantypeintheVATbusinessgroupthatyouwanttoshowupasthedefaultforsalesthatrequirethisbusinessgroup.Next,clickonthecheckbox“AutoInsertDefault”sothatitwillautomaticallyincludetheDefaultVATBusinessGroupeachtimethegeneralbusinessgroupisappliedtoavendor,customer,orG/Lgroup.
