Areyoucurrentlyexperiencingasimilarconundrum?It’scompletelyunderstandablegivenourcurrentevents.Thebiggerproblemthoughisthatwesometimesfindithardtoconcentrateevenwheneventsarenormal.Therehavebeenseveralbookswritteninthelastfiveyearsaboutthepoweroffocus.indistractableisoneofthese.Wherethisbookdiffersisthatitfocusesontheunderlyingpsychologyofdistraction. Mr.Eyalmakesuseofasimpleillustration.Inlife,wetakeaction.Distractionisactionthatmovesusawayfromwhatwereallywantwhiletractionisactionthatmovesustowardwhatwereallywant.Weexperienceaconstanttug-of-warbetweendistractionandtraction.Thismaybeinducedbyinternaltriggers(hunger,tired)orexternaltriggers(pings,dings,andrings).Withthesefourthingsinmind,heoffersupaplantomasterourattention:masterourinternaltriggers,maketimefortraction,manageexternaltriggers,andpreventdistractions. Theremainderofthebookisfocusedoneachofthesefourcategories.Forexample,within,thesectiononmasteringinternaltriggers,youwillexploremotivation,psychologicalpain,andinternaldistractionsbeforetakingactiononinternaltriggers,yourtemperament,inthetasksathand.Theremainingsectionsfollowasimilarpatternofunderstandingbeforeaction.Theclosingchaptersfocusonfixingworkplacedistractions,raisingindistractablechildren,andhavingindistractablerelationships.
