Thecoursewillcontinueareviewofsomeofthemajorconceptsinorganicchemistry,buildingupontheknowledgeoftheprerequisitecourses.Avocabularyofsynthetictechniqueswillbedeveloped,somederivingfromnaturalprocesses,somedevelopedbyman.Enolatechemistrywillbereviewed,aswellasElectrophilicAromaticSubstitution.TheGrignardandWittigreactionswillbediscussed.Freeradicalchemistrywillbeintroduced.Anintroductiontovariousformsofspectroscopyandspectrometrywillbeoffered.Thegoalofthecoursewillbetounderstandorganicsynthesisasperformedinindustryandtobecapableofreviewingatotalsynthesisinthescientificliterature.
