Sincetheresumptionofvoterregistrationonacontinuousbasisin2017,theCommissionhasbeenlookingatwaystomakevoterregistrationeasier,moreaccessible,anduser-friendlynotonlytothemultitudeofprospective registrants,butalsotoregisteredvoterswhomaywishtotransfertheirregistrationorhavehadtheirPermanentVoters'Cards(PVCs)missingordefaced.ThisisoneoftheCommission'sinnovationstoenhancevoterexperienceby makingtheregistrationexercisefaster,easier,andlesscrowdedthanbefore.GiventhelingeringCOVID-19situation,thenewregistrationsolutionwillhelpdecongestregistrationcenters,reducedelays,andallowprospective registrantstoscheduleappointmentsandmonitortheirapplicationsfromthecomfortoftheirhomes. Theportalallowsatwo-stepregistrationprocessinwhichfirst,prospectiveregistrantslogintopre-registerbyprovidingtheirbasicbiodataandsomebiometricsandsecondtocompletetheregistrationbyphysicallypresenting themselvesatadesignatedregistrationcenteroftheirchoice. Thisconsiderablyeasestheprocessasasubstantialpartoftheexercisewouldhavebeencompletedonlinebeforephysicalcontactwithregistrationofficials.IurgealleligibleNigerianstotakeadvantageoftheservicesofferedby theCommissionthroughthisportal.
