TheMOFATaiwanScholarshipcontinuestoencourageoutstandingstudentstopursueacademicdegreesinTaiwanandtodeepentheirunderstandingofTaiwan'sacademicenvironment,therebyenhancingexchangesandbuildingfriendshipsbetweenTaiwanandtheirhomenations. TheMOFATaiwanScholarshipis, inprinciple, grantedtostudentsfromcountriesthathavediplomaticrelationswithTaiwan.However,specialconsiderationmayalsobegiventostudentsfromothercountries I.Programs Thenon-degreeMandarinLanguageEnrichmentProgram(LEP):Recipientsmaytakethe LEPforamaximumofoneyearatMandarin-teachinginstitutions(hereinafter“MandarinTrainingCenters”)affiliatedwithauniversityorcollegeaccreditedbytheMinistryof Education. Degreeprograms:Recipientsmayapplyforadmissiontoanydegreeprogramleadingto an undergraduate,masterordoctoraldegree,excludingin-serviceprograms.   II.Awardperiod        1.Non-degreeLEP:oneyear.           2.Degree programs:            (1) Undergraduateprogram:fouryearsmaximum         (2)Master’sprogram:twoyearsmaximum          (3)Doctoralprogram:fouryearsmaximum III.FinancialAssistance ScholarshiprecipientswillbegivenamonthlystipendofNT$25,000fortheLEPand NT$30,000 fordegreeprograms.RecipientsareresponsibleforallexpensesduringtheirstayinTaiwan.MOFAwillnotprovideanyothersubsidies.MOFAwill,however,providerecipientswithone-way,economy-classplaneticketsfordirectflightstoandfromTaiwan. IV.Eligibility Isahighschoolgraduateorabovewithanexcellentacademicrecord,ofgoodmoralcharacterandhasnocriminalrecord. IsnotanationaloftheRepublicofChina(Taiwan). Isnotanoverseascompatriotstudent. HasneverattendedaneducationalinstitutioninTaiwanatthesamelevelofdegreeorLEPthathe/sheintendstoapplyfor. Isnotanexchangestudentthroughanycooperationagreementbetweenaforeignuniversity/collegeandaneducationalinstituteinTaiwanwhilereceivingtheScholarship.
