Gotomaincontent BrandHK |FontSize: |Sitemap   CommunityrecyclingnetworkGREEN@COMMUNITYcontinuestoenhanceservices(withphotos) CommunityrecyclingnetworkGREEN@COMMUNITYcontinuestoenhanceservices(withphotos) ***************************************************************************************    ThecommunityrecyclingnetworkGREEN@COMMUNITYundertheEnvironmentalProtectionDepartment(EPD)hasreceivedpositivefeedbackfromthepublicsinceitsrebrandingattheendof2020.Inadditiontoboostingsignificantlythequantityofrecyclablescollected,therecyclingfacilitieshavewonvariousregionaldesignawards.TheEPDwillcontinuetoexpandthenetwork,stepuppublicityandfacilitatepublicparticipationincleanrecycling,withaviewtopreparingfortheimplementationofmunicipalsolidwastecharging.      TherebrandedGREEN@COMMUNITYfeaturestheword"green",whichsoundsthesameas"six"inCantonese.Currently,thereare11RecyclingStations,22RecyclingStores,andmorethan100RecyclingSpotsthatoperateweeklyasmobilerecyclingpointsatfixedlocationsandtimesacrosstheterritory.ThenetworkreceivesatleasteighttypesofrecyclablesandrunstheGREEN$ElectronicParticipationIncentiveScheme.Anewbatchof 10RecyclingStores isalsointhepipeline,with services expectedtocommencegraduallyinthefirsthalfof2022.      AspokesmanfortheEPDsaid,"Thenew-generationcommunityrecyclingnetworkhasbroadenedthespectrumofpeoplewhoparticipateincleanrecycling,attractingtensofthousandsofvisitorstothefacilitieseverymonth.ThequantityofrecyclablescollectedbytheRecyclingStoreshasfarexceededthatofthepreviouscommunityrecyclingcentres,withtheaveragemonthlyquantityin2021beingmorethanfourtimesgreaterthanthatof2020.TheGREEN$ElectronicParticipationSchemehasissuedmorethan110000smartcardsthatcanbeusedinover100recyclingpointsofGREEN@COMMUNITY.Welaunchedthebrand-newGREEN$mobileapplicationonJanuary6,allowingthepublictoregisterasmembersoftheGREEN$ElectronicParticipationSchemewiththeirsmartphonestofurtherpromotethecity'sparticipationincleanrecycling."      Themembersof GREEN$ElectronicParticipationSchemecanchoosetousetheirGREEN$smartcardorthenewmobileapptoearnrewardpointstoredeemgiftswhendroppingofftheirrecyclablesattheRecyclingStations,RecyclingStoresandRecyclingSpots.MembersofthepubliccandownloadtheGREEN$mobileapplicationatwww.wastereduction.gov.hk/en/Greenycoins_Mobile_Application.htm.      Thedesignofthe RecyclingStoresisknownforitssimplicityand,onthefirstanniversaryoftheRecyclingStores'opening, wonthetopaccoladeoftheDFADesignforAsiaAwardsorganisedbytheHongKongDesignCentrelastDecemberinrecognitionoftheexcellentdesign.TheDFADesignforAsiaAwards,withan18-yearhistory,hasseenitsinternationalinfluencegrowintheAsiandesignsector.      Inaddition,twonewRecyclingStations,GREEN@WANCHAIandGREEN@SAIKUNG,commencedservicesinphasesbytheendoflastyear.ThearchitecturaldesignofGREEN@WANCHAIhaswontwoawards.ApartfromthemeritawardintheArchitecturalServicesDepartmentAnnualAward2021,italsowonaGoodDesignAward2021inJapanrecentlyforitsintegrationwiththesurroundingenvironmenttopromotegreenculture.      Toenhancethe public'sunderstandingofthecommunityrecyclingnetworkservices,theEPDhascarriedoutextensivepromotionandpublicity,includingaddingiconsofRecyclingStationsandRecyclingStorestotheGeoInfoMapandGoogleMaps.SignageofBigWasterandGreeny(signifyingthe "WasteLess"andcleanrecyclingmessagesrespectively)andnoticeboardsshowingtheserviceinformationofRecyclingSpotsarepostedonnearbylampposts.TheEPDhasfurtherstrengthenedthepublicityandpromotionoftheenhancedservicesofthecommunityrecyclingnetworkonpublictransportationservices andtheirstations,andencouragesmembersofthepublictogotothenearbyGREEN@COMMUNITYfacilitiesforrecycling.      TheEPD'sGreenOutreachhasalso conductedoutreachwork,throughon-siteguidanceandhands-ondemonstrationsinthecommunity,tocarryoutvariousformsofpublicityandpromotionactivitiestoeducatemembersofthepubliconsourceseparationofwasteandcleanrecycling,andsharewiththemthelatestinformationonwastereductionandrecyclingtogetthempreparedfortheimplementationofmunicipalsolidwastecharging.   Ends/Monday,January17,2022 IssuedatHKT20:05 NNNN Archives   Yesterday'sPressReleases   BacktoIndexPage Backtotop Today'sPressReleases   Photo
