兩位同學對長句的分析已相當熟練，但是卻出現對單音節多義性動詞束手無策的怪現象，原來兩位同學對單音節動詞(如"get")只知道學校教的單一中文解釋，一旦其後接了「介係詞」卻又不是「片語動詞」時，就不知道該怎麼辦啦~~~因為字典中至少有三十種不同解釋，這讓Mike老師想起高中一年級時的一段往事。

某次英文課下課問了老師一個現在想起來很笨的問題："medicine"和"medication"中文解釋都是「藥」，到底差別在哪裡？只見這位師大畢業的英文老師欲言又止翻了老半天英漢字典卻語焉不詳滿頭大汗，最後Mike老師見狀決定先打退堂鼓表示已經懂了，這次事件過後那位教學非常認真的英文老師直接告訴Mike老師以後不要再問他任何問題，其實Mike老師早就決定不問任何老師任何問題，自己查英英字典還比較有效率一點。
