研究使用隨機取樣的方式,對象為中區某所科技大學,567位已修習過大一必修英語的大二學生為研究對象,分別來自工程學院、管理學院、設計學院及人文學院。

學生的英文程度則參照英文課程的分班級別。

使用口說課堂焦慮問卷(PSCAS),及SPSS的描述性統計、變異數分析統計方法來分析資料。

研究結果發現,學生在英語課程環境的焦慮為中度,溝通焦慮的因素為最高。

英文分班級別能力越高的學生,口說焦慮越低。

不同科系的口說焦慮也有所不同。

研究希望提供授課老師教授不同學院學生課程之參考,建議老師能提供學生課堂口說的練習機會,營造學生發表意見的課堂氛圍,以降低學生口說焦慮。

Thisstudyaimstoinvestigatethesourcesofforeignlanguagespeakinganxiety,therelationshipbetweenspeakinganxietyandEnglishproficiencylevelsandtherelationshipbetweenspeakinganddifferentmajors.ThestudywasconductedatauniversityofscienceandtechnologyincentralTaiwan,withtheparticipantsof577sophomorestudentswhohadtakenthegeneralEnglishcourseintheirfirstyearandtheyarefromCollegeofEngineering,Management,DesignandHumanities.Conveniencesamplingmethodwasadoptedtoselecttheparticipantsfromdifferentlevels.Proficiencylevelinthestudywasdividedintothreecategories:LevelsA,B,C.DescriptivestatisticsandANOVAwereutilizedtoanalyzethedata.Datawascollectedthroughquestionnaire.Thequestionnairehadtwoparts.Thefirstpartgatheredtheparticipant'sacademicmajorandthelevelofEnglishcourse.Inthesecondpart,theparticipantsweregiventhePublicSpeakingClassAnxietyScale(PSCAS),adaptedfromYaikhongandUsaha(2012).Theconstructofpublicspeakingclassanxietyconsistsoffactorsofcommunicationapprehension,testanxiety,fearofnegativeevaluation,andcomfortinusingEnglish.TheresultsindicatedthatChineseEFLlearnersexperiencemediumanxietylevelinEnglishlanguageclassrooms.Theresultexpectedtobeabletoprovideinstructorsasareferenceofstudent’sspeakinganxietyfromdifferentcollegesandwithsomeinformationinconductingtheEnglishclasses.Fatherpedagogicalimplicationsforreducingin-classEnglishspeakinganxietywerediscussedattheendofthestudy.
