TheBICisan8charactercode,definedas‘businesspartyidentifier’,consistingofthebusinesspartyprefix(4alphanumeric),thecountrycodeasdefinedinISO3166-1(2alphabetic),andthebusinesspartysuffix(2alphanumeric). Thebranchidentifierisa3characteroptionalelementthatcansupplementthe8characterBIC,usedtoidentifyspecificlocations,departments,servicesorunitsofthesamebusinessparty.
