Studentsinourdepartmenthavecloserelationshipswithfacultywhoarecommitted,excellenteducators.They’reengagedin  onexcitingmoderntopics,includingbioanalyticalchemistry,environmentalchemistry,andmedicinalchemistry.Intheirlaboratorycourses,studentsuseadvancedinstrumentationtolearntechnicalskillsandproblem-solvingstrategiesthatpreparethemforcareersafterSCU.Outsideoftheclassroom,ouraward-winning  fosterscamaraderieamongmajorsandengagesstudentsinfunchemistry-themedactivitiesoncampusandinthecommunity. Ourfacultyworkone-on-onewithmanystudentsintheresearchlaboratory,onsuchprojectsasdevelopingorganicmaterialsforharvestingsolarenergy,manipulatingchemicalreactionswithmicrofluidics,andunderstandinginteractionsbetweennanoparticlesandbiologicalmolecules.Studentsroutinelypresenttheirworkatlocalandnationalconferencesandareco-authorsonpublicationsinthechemicalliterature.
