TheUnitedKingdomwillreplaceCEMarkingforsafetyandperformanceofproductswithaUKCA(UKConformityAssessed)schemeandaUKCAmark,whichbecomesactivefrom1stJanuary2021.Inmostcases,atransitionalperiodapplieswhereCEMarkingcontinuestobeacceptedforUnitedKingdommarketaccess,toallowbusinesstoadjust. Inmostcases,thisis12monthsand,insomecases,longer. BeforetheendofthistransitionperiodyoumustacttoobtainaUKCAcertificateforyourproductsifyouwishtocontinueplacingthemontheUKmarket.TheUKGovernmenthaveindicatedthiscouldbesubjecttoreview.ThereisnotransitionperiodforCEMarkingandcertificatesissuedbyUKbasedNotifiedBodies,whichwillceasetobevalidfortheEU+EEAmarketon1stJanuary2021.IfyouhaveaCEcertificateissuedbyaUKbasedNotifiedBody,youmustactnowtoensurecontinuityofEU+EEAmarketaccess. WhatifIholdaDNVCECertificateissuedbyanEU+EEANotifiedBody? AllcategoriesofCEcertificationofferedbyDNVEU+EEANotifiedBodiesbenefitfromthetransitionperiod.  YoumaycontinuetoplaceyourproductsontheUKmarketundertheirCEcertificateuntil31-Dec-21.  ThetransitionislongerforMedicalDevices,until30-Jun-2023.DNV’sEU+EEAbasedNotifiedBodieshavealreadymadeprovisionstoduplicatescopewithinDNV’sUKbasedNotifiedBody,sothatthedirectiveswhichwillfallunderUKCAmarkingwillbeissuedinparallelbythenewUKCAbodybeforetheendofthetransitionperiod,soyoucancontinuetoplacethesedevicesontheUKmarket,withaUKCAmarkinadditiontoyourexistingCEMark.  WhatifIholdaDNVCECertificateissuedbyNotifiedBody0097intheUK? Ano-dealBrexitcouldmeanthatUK-issuedcertificatesarenolongervalidinEU+EEA. Intheunlikelyeventthishappens,DNVhasmadeprovisionstoautomaticallytransferyourcertificationtooneofitsEU+EEAbasedNotifiedBodiesandinparalleltheUKentitywillissueanewUKCAcertificatefortheproduct. ThiswillensurethereisnointerruptiontoyourmarketaccessforbothUKandEU+EEAmarkets.
