An apology for my memory (or lack thereof) ... What is becoming more apparent is people likely confuse my brevity ... She's right…and wrong. ShareonFacebookShareonTwitterInfulldisclosuretoday’ssegmentissomethingIdiscussedacoupleofyearsagobutsincetheproblemstillexistsandoneIcan’tseemtofindasolutionforIhavedecidedtoaddressitagain.ThatismyinabilitytomatchfaceswithnameswhichisactuallygettingworseovertimeandwhileitwouldbeeasytoplacetheblameonageIthinkthere’smoretoitandthat.TobesomewhatfairtomyselfabigpartofthisisIdocomeincontactwithalotofpeoplemanythroughsportsandothersthroughvariousaffiliationsIhaveinandoutofTownsquareMedia.HoweveritisreallyuncomfortableattimestobeapproachedbysomeonewhostartsaconversationwhenIhavenoideawhotheyareorwhereIknowthemfrom. IfI’mlucky(notoften)somethingmightbesaidwhichfinallyturnsonthelightbulbinmybrainandallowsmetojointheconversation.HowevermoreoftenthannotI’mforcedtoquicklyendourdialogueandgetawaybeforeI’mexposed. Whatisbecomingmoreapparentispeoplelikelyconfusemybrevitywithrudenessandthatbothersme.MywifeJanehasanissuewiththewayIhandlethesesituationsespeciallyifI’minapositionwhereIdon’tintroduceherbecauseIdon’tknowtheotherperson’sname. ShebelievesthatcommoncourtesywouldbeformetoadmitthatIhaveforgottentheirnameandofferanapologylike,“I’msorrybutIhaveforgottenyourname.”She’sright…andwrong. Thatsituationworksfinewhenit’ssomeoneyoumighthavemetonceortwicebutwhatifit’sapersonthatyoureallyshouldremembermaybeevensomeonewhoisfairlyimportant.Theycouldtakerealexceptiontothefactyoucouldnotremembertheirnameanditmightbeaninsultthatresultsinnegativeconnotations. Iwilladmittobeingontheotherendofthisandwalkingawayfeelinginsignificantwhenapersondidnotremembermeormyname.Bottomline. IfI’vehadanencounterinwhichIcameoffassomewhatrudeitwaslikelyduetothefactthatIwasuncomfortablebecauseIsimplycouldnotplaceyournamewithyourface. Hereweareattheendof2019andIjustcan’tseemtofigureouthowtoownuptothis.I’llputitonthegrowinglistofresolutionsfor2020.Categories:HometownViewCommentsLeaveACommentBackToTop
