Step2:Recruitercall Afteryourresumehasbeenapproved,arecruiterwillgetincontactwithyoutoscheduleacall.Thisgenerallylasts20-30minutes. Duringthecall,therecruiterwillhaveanon-technicalchatwithyouaboutyourbackgroundandwhyyouareinterestedinthejob.Youshouldhaveanswerspreparedforquestionslike,“Tellmeaboutyourself,”“WhyGoogle?”,and“Walkmethroughyourresume.” Therecruiterwillalsodiscusswithyouhowtheoverallinterviewprocesswillwork.Ifyouhaveanyspecificquestions(e.g.timeline,location,clarificationaboutthejobdescription),nowisthetimetoask.  Therecruiterwillbeyourpointpersonfortherestoftheinterviews,andthebestsuitedtoansweryourquestionsabouttheprocess.Soit’simportanttokeeplinesofcommunicationwiththemopen. Ifallgoeswell,therecruiterwillgetbackintouchwithyoutoscheduleyourfirstinterviews:thephonescreens. Step3:Phonescreen(s) Dependingontherole,youwilleitherhaveoneortwophonescreenswithyourhiringmanager,orafuturepeeroftheteamyou’reapplyingtojoin. Thesewilltypicallylastbetween45and60minuteseach,overGoogleMeet.Inthemajorityofcases,thiswillbeavideocall,butinsomecasestheinterviewermaychoosetokeeptheircameraturnedoff. Datascientists:you’llbeaskedafewgeneralbackgroundquestions,aswellasSQL,coding,andstatisticsquestions,showingyourworkonaGoogleDocorcodingplatform. Technicalprogrammanagers:you’llbeaskedamixofprogrammanagement,technical,andleadershipquestions. Accountmanagers:you’llbeaskedprimarilybehavioralandbackgroundquestionsthattestyourclientserviceskills.
