OtherexamplesofnocturnesincludetheonefororchestrafromFelixMendelssohn'sincidentalmusicforAMidsummerNight'sDream(1848),thesetofthreefororchestraandfemalechoirbyClaudeDebussy(whoalsowroteoneforsolopiano)andthefirstmovementoftheViolinConcertoNo.1(1948)byDmitriShostakovich.FrenchcomposerErikSatiecomposedaseriesoffivesmallnocturnes.Thesewere,however,fardifferentfromthoseofFieldandChopin.In1958,BenjaminBrittenwroteaNocturnefortenor,sevenobbligatoinstrumentsandstrings,andthethirdmovementofhisSerenadeforTenor,HornandStrings(1943)isalsotitled"Nocturne".
