IntheUnitedStatestherearedozensofcompanies,manyofwhichareinLosAngelesandNewYorkCity,thatspecializeinthecreationoffilmtrailers.Thetrailermaybecreatedatagencies(suchasTheCimarronGroup,MOJO,TheAntFarm,BenCain,AspectRatio,FlyerEntertainment,TrailerPark,BuddhaJones)whilethefilmitselfisbeingcuttogetheratthestudio.Sincetheeditedfilmdoesnotexistatthispoint,thetrailereditorsworkfromrushesordailies.Thus,thetrailermaycontainfootagethatisnotinthefinalmovie,orthetrailereditorandthefilmeditormayusedifferenttakesofaparticularshot.Anothercommontechniqueisincludingmusiconthetrailerwhichdoesnotappearonthemovie'ssoundtrack.Thisisnearlyalwaysarequirement,astrailersandteasersarecreatedlongbeforethecomposerhasevenbeenhiredforthefilmscore—sometimesasmuchasayearaheadofthemovie'sreleasedate—whilecomposersareusuallythelastcreativepeopletoworkonthefilm.
