Google Analytics API evolution V2.3, V2.4 and V3.0

Google has announced evolution that will occur in regards to the Google Analytics API. Analytics Canvas gives access to your Google Analytics Data. EvolutionoftheGoogleAnalyticsAPIGoogleAnalyticshasseenanumberofsignificantchangesandenhancementsinthepreviousmonths,showingGoogle’scommitmenttothispowerfultool.GooglehasalsoannouncedevolutionsthatwilloccurinregardstotheGoogleAnalyticsAPI.AnalyticsCanvasusestheGoogleAnalyticsAPItogiveun-equaledaccesstoyourGoogleAnalyticsData.TherearetwopartstotheAPI-theManagementAPI,andtheDataFeedAPI.Googleisdoingastagedapproachtotheirevolution,andasaresult,theManagementanddataAPIsarebeingupgradedinphases.ThismeansthatwemustevolveAnalyticsCanvasinphasesaswell.Phase1-TheManagementAPIInphase1,thepreviousversionofthemanagementAPI(V2.3)isbeingdiscontinued,andV2.4andV3.0arebeingactivated.Phase2–TheDataAPIInphase2,theDataAPIisalsoupgraded,withV2.4andV3.0available.Whytwoversions?V2.4isalegacyversion,thatwhilenotexactlythesameasV2.3,islargelybackwardcompatible.However,itisnecessarytoupgradetoV1.2.5ofAnalyticsCanvastouseV2.4.V3.0issignificantlydifferent(andbetter)KeyadvantagestoV3.0Willbefaster.WilluseJSONforthedatafeed,whichismorecompact.WillnowbepartoftheGoogleAnalyticsAPIinfrastructureenhancingcapabilities.Becauseofthephasedapproach,itwillbenecessarytoensurethatyouarerunningthelatestversionofAnalyticsCanvas.We’reexcitedaboutthenewfunctionality,andwe’reenhancingAnalyticsCanvastotakeadvantageofit,soyou’llfindthattheupgradesbringincreasedfeatureswiththemaswell.Donothesitatetocontactusatinfo@analyticscanvas.comwithanyquestions,we’dliketohearfromyou.
